We have a parts locator website called [url removed, login to view]
This is a site where consumers fil in one form and their part requests are posted on our internal system for car breakers to login and action quotes on the requests.
Orginally the site was set so consumers needed to become a member before you could request a part, and all your previous parts requests where kept in a database for you to retreive
We felt there was no benefit to that, so we removed the need for any membersip.
Everytime you make a parts request now it creates a unique number.
However the system now has an accasional fault.
Whenever a consumer enters their name and it happens to be exactly the same name as a previous consumer, the system latches on to that previous parts request and the consumer gets confirmation emails that belong to a different consumer, with the same name.
We need all parts requests to be unique and not conected to any parts requests that have happened in the past, incuding those done by the same consumer.
We reguarly delete the database of names etc, but are still getting caught out occassionaly.
The most important thing about this work is that it must not create any new problems. So I am keen for only those with feedback to do the work.
