PayPal IPN Easy Fix

My website some how is taking too long to get the PayPal IPN notification. So, after making the payment the user is taken to a page where it says "Sorry, we were unable to process this transaction successfully" and the order on admin area shows as payment FAILED. BUT, after a minute or so, the order status changes automatically to PAID, because the payment was indeed process. So, I need someone to MODIFY the paypal coding on my website and change the failed/cancel payment URL to the "Thank You" page. And once the user reach the Thank You page, for the site to CLEAR THE CART (else the site will keep sending an automatic email to the user asking to complete the purchase).
So, in order words, the Paypal payments are been process successfully on my site, except that the paypal notification takes too long to be detected.
Also, I want the "CUSTOM" field to be removed in order not to show on paypal transaction payment details.
