---SERIOUS BIDS ONLY, READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOU BID---
Here is the deal:
Our website, [url removed, login to view], is set to launch next week. There is one problem, which we need fixed.
We are using a PHP script that pulls stock market data from [url removed, login to view], by calling a URL. The Yahoo URL looks like this:
[url removed, login to view],MSFT&f=l1c1&e=.csv
In this case, we are using Apple and Microsoft as the stocks. There is an array inside the PHP script with a list of tickers which we want pulled from Yahoo.
The result from the Yahoo URL is a CSV file with the contents:
188.50,[url removed, login to view]
27.73,[url removed, login to view]
The first number is the stock price, the second number is the change in price today. The original PHP script would take this information, and display it on our website with updated data EVERY TIME THE USER REFRESHED THE PAGE.
The problem is that it would take forever for our page to load... the solution is up to you, but here is how we think it should be:
The original script can display stock data from a outside CSV file, without using Yahoo at all. The problem is that the format required for this outside CSV file is different than the one Yahoo gives. The format for the outside CSV is:
Compare this to the file Yahoo spits out, which is:
So only the first column (which should be easy to add in because it's in the array) and the last column (which is just a calculation of percent change) are missing from the file Yahoo gives out.
So, when executed, our PHP script would:
1.) Get Yahoo's CSV file
2.) Reformat the CSV file to include the extra two columns and the right data
3.) SAVE the new CSV file onto our server somewhere
This way, we can setup a cron job to run every 15 minutes, which would update our CSV stock price data file, and the page will load faster because our users won't have to wait for Yahoo's server. All the action goes on in the background.
This project is URGENT. We want this done this weekend. The earlier, the better.
Simple job that can be completed in few minutes even by beginner. Script will be uploaded within an hour. Looking forward to your reply. With Best Regards, ecodes
