My name is Mike Borders. For some reason, my script will not send the activation
emails to visitors who sign up to my site. Below are the details.
1) When a visitor signs up to my site, the script does not send the activation email.
2) When the visitor goes to the [url removed, login to view] page and submits his email address to have it
re-sent, the script does not send the activation email
3) In the script's admin panel, whenever I click on the "Re Send Activation" link,
the activation email is not sent.
I have been hosting this script with the same hosting company for over 8 years
and never had this problem. I have Not made any changes to the script in over 2
years. I wonder if the hosting company made changes to their servers which
may have affected my script.
The company is closed today for Thanksgiving, so I put in a ticket to have one
of their technical people take a look at this problem.
I would like to have a programmer to take a look at the script once I verify that
the hosting company has not made any changes to their servers which could
have affected my script.
Note 1: I can send an individual email from my admin email address and can also
receive and reply to emails sent from the visitor's and member's contact forms on my site.
So mail is going out from the server.
Note 2: Also for members who signed up on or before 2014-09-20, I can set their account to
Unconfirmed (which means they haven't clicked on the activation link in the activation
email to activate their account) and click on the re-send activation email link and the activation
email is sent.
The problem seems to be the script is not sending the initial activation
email. And it seems like the problem started after 2014-09-20 as several members have signed
up after this date, but no one was able to activate their account. The last time a person was
able to activate their account successfully was on 2014-09-20
Note 3: Also, in the hosting cpanel, I keep getting the following error message in the error
log: [29-Nov-2014 08:33:32] PHP Warning: extract() [<a href='function.extract'>function.extract</a>]: First argument should be an array in
/home3/myguaran/public_html/include/functions/main_function.php on line 17 Could this be the problem?
Note 4: I believe my hosting company changed something on their server which affected the script. Because the
script has been working fine for 8 years and I haven't touched any of the coding.
I'm waiting for the hosting company's reply. My hosting company is using PHP Version 5.4.24
My script was custom built in January of 2006 and I don't know which version my script was written in. So maybe
my script needs to be tweak so that it is compatible with PHP Version5.4.24 or maybe the hosting company has
placed certain filters on outgoing mail that is sent automatically such as the activation email.
