Wordpress Summary on Static Index

I have this issue with a few of my sites...

I have a static [url removed, login to view] page and a Wordpress blog installed on the subdirectory: [url removed, login to view]

What I'd like is the ability to have sniplets/summary title & text posted in a section on the [url removed, login to view] page with the ability to set some perameters like:

1) ability to set a 'set' number of words on the summary text or to have it fluctuate (range) of words that are displayed after the title...eg.

title here

title here

(range10-25 words)

2) ability to say how many summary posts to display

3) if there is an image in the post to have it as a thumbnail (with specified dimensions of course) to the left of the title/summary (or have it turned off with a toggle in the config somewhere)...

I don't want to use the Wordpress "static index" plugin but rather have this as an option for currently running sites with static indexes so I can just mount a section on the index with this data. Keeping in mind that the /blog is also using summary data, thus the need for a modified version to be spidered through from the front page.

NOTE: I'll retain full rights to script when complete.
