I am wrapping up HCIS Stage 2 for a new chemical storage warehouse and now need complete detail design and installation drawings for the fire-suppression system. Everything must comply fully with NFPA guidelines; this is the single non-negotiable requirement. The exact suppression technology is still open. Whether a conventional wet sprinkler layout, a foam-water combination, clean-agent gas, or another approach ends up being the safest choice, it has to be selected strictly “as per NFPA requirements” after you review the chemical inventory and hazard classification for the building. In short, I’m looking for an engineer who can interpret the NFPA chapters that govern chemical warehouses, translate them into a compliant system concept, and then develop all the drawings and documents needed for installation approval. Scope of Work Fire Hydrant System Review of FEED fire hydrant layouts, fire water demand, and hydraulic criteria. Preparation of detailed installation design drawings, including fire water hydrant locations, spacing, and coverage, pipe sizes, valve arrangements, and installation details. Detailed hydraulic calculations and fire water demand verification in accordance with NFPA 24 and HCIS SAF-04. Preparation of installation details, sections, construction notes, and technical design specifications. Fire Extinguisher System Review of FEED fire risk assessment, chemical classification, and warehouse zoning. Finalization of fire extinguisher type, rating, and quantity in accordance with FEED, HCIS SAF, and NFPA 10. Preparation of detailed fire extinguisher layout drawings, spacing calculations, and extinguisher schedules. Preparation of mounting details, installation heights, signage, and identification requirements. Fire Detection and Alarm System Review of FEED fire detection and alarm system concept. Preparation of detailed fire detection and alarm system design, including: Fire Alarm Control Panel architecture, Manual Call Points, Audible and visual notification devices, System zoning, Cause & Effect Matrix Design in compliance with NFPA 72, NFPA 30, SBC 801, and HCIS SAF-04. Interface design with the existing facility fire alarm system where required by FEED. Preparation of Single-line diagrams, Device location drawings, Cable routing layouts. Drainage System Review of FEED requirements related to Fire water drainage, Spill control and containment, Storm water drainage within chemical storage areas. Preparation of fire protection–related drainage design, including Drainage routing within curbed storage areas, Spill containment and controlled discharge philosophy, Grading intent diagrams to divert spills away from buildings and critical infrastructure Curbing requirements in accordance with FEED. Deliverables I need to sign off the job: • Design Basis and FEED Compliance Statement • Fire Protection Design Criteria Report • Detailed design drawings for all four systems • Hydraulic analysis and fire water demand report (Elite Software 7.0+) • Fire alarm Cause & Effect Matrix • Drainage, grading, and spill control design intent drawings • Authority-ready design submission package • All deliverables shall be submitted in PDF format and editable formats. • Code-compliant design narrative outlining the chosen NFPA sections and hazard calculations • Full set of coordinated drawings (plans, sections, riser diagrams, details) ready for construction • Fire Fighting Design, Fire Alarm Design, Fire Egress/Evacuation Plans and Emergency Lighting. • Equipment schedules, nozzle/valve layouts, and material take-off list • Interface notes for the existing fire-alarm panel and any detection or foam-concentrate skids • Compliance matrix showing item-by-item alignment with the relevant NFPA clauses for chemical warehouses Provide everything in PDF plus editable CAD (DWG) or Revit format so the installer can move straight into procurement and fabrication. If you have recent experience designing NFPA-compliant systems for hazardous or chemical storage facilities, that will help us move quickly.
