I literally became an expert at API extraction while at Citymapper! I designed and wrote one of their most complex API extraction program that basically extracts data from a timetable API and converts it to a GTFS dataset. It is all written in pure Python and use JSON responses. In addition to the extraction, I wrote an algorithm on top that processes the dataset to implement block transfer trains (basically trains that run on different routes). I also wrote a script that extract shapes from OpenStreetMap with a converter in GeoJSON format (can send it to you if interested as it is not confidential). This is very similar to what is asked in this project (not to mention that I also worked with SHP). I understand that I'm a new freelancer and it can be quite difficult to trust a person in such a position, but believe me, I'm strong result-oriented person, always enthusiastic and I constantly need to embrace new challenges. My background proves it. I graduated with 2 masters' degrees in finance, in France and Germany, and gained experience in companies such as HSBC or Google. I'm a self-taught Python programmer that successfully landed an engineering internship at Citymapper, one of the hottest startups in London. Hi, is the script going to run on a Linux environment? I'm asking this because I've worked in a similar project before, and the only way to achieve build the shp file from geoJson data would be to use invoke the ogr2ogr Linux command line tool in Python.
