We are an Apple consultancy who work as a partner to Jamf Pro. They have a patch management section that would enable us to link in a python webserver to serve patch definitions to our clients. The connection is done via URL / Hostname to the "new server we need", but it does not ask for authentication.
Ideally we would like to have a login on this to secure the contents. As far as we can see Jamf will only accept a server address so no authentication can happen at that end, it would need to be for the web server itself. That still wouldn't stop people getting the URL and using the shrive for free so any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.
The "new server" itself only needs to be a webeserver (phython/php) that has an upload facility to upload a .json file with software names, current versions, bundle identifier (this is apples developer string). Once uploaded the Jamf Pro server would then read the patch definition and report what machine re not on the latest version etc.
A free open source version is on GitHub but we would need this written from scratch on Phyton 3, but also add ability to lock down the interface with authentication. Ideally we would like to have a login to enable a license key that we can renew on an annual basis. As far as we can see Jamf will only accept a server address so no authentication can happen at that end, it would need to be for the web server itself.
This is the free version that works, albeit on Phthon2.7 and without authentication or license ability > [login to view URL]
This is another open source option but this does have the pid model with authentication and licensing which is what we would be looking for > [login to view URL]
This is Jamf's documentation on what's needed > [login to view URL]
I will upload an example json file of what we import via an upload / update button
Any question please ask.
