Hey Python People!
I'm looking for a small script that will total all possible outcomes for a quiz. The quiz works like this:
- N number of questions with N number of choices
- Each choice associated with a numeric array of N length (but always the same within the dataset)
- Each number in the array maps to an outcome
So, by way of example:
Quiz: What's Your Favorite Color?
Array Meaning: [Points for Red, Points for Orange]
Q1: Do you like tomatoes or carrots more?
A1: Tomatoes: [2,0]
A2: Carrots: [0,2]
Q2: What's Your Favorite NFL Team?
A1: Cincinatti Bengals [0,2]
A2: Arizona Cardinals [2,0]
A3: Philadelphia Eagles [1,1]
Dataset after script is run is a CSV with all possible total outcomes. So one row would indicate answers Q1/A1 [2,0] and Q2/A3 [1,1] which add up to [3,1], meaning RED WINS. But I want to look at all possible outcomes.
So for this example, this would be the result:
2,2
4,0
3,1
0,4
2,2
1,3
The goal is a data set that I can analyze to balance a quiz, reduce ties, and make sure there are no unattainable results. If you have a better way to crack this, I'm all ears!
The trick is to make it scalable. So I would like variables that I can manipulate if I need a data set of (for example) 6 questions, 2 or 3 choices for each, with answer arrays that contain 10 results. Or 7 questions, each with 4 answers, and an answer array that contains 4 results.
