I’m setting up a smart gate barrier that runs on a Raspberry Pi and reports to a self-hosted ThingsBoard instance on my own virtual server. The job covers everything from wiring the Pi to the gate hardware right through to building a browser dashboard my staff can pull up on any PC. Here’s what I need the finished system to do for me: • Show the gate’s status in real time, with clear indicators for open, closed, or fault states. • Let authorised users trigger OPEN / CLOSE remotely and see an immediate confirmation. • Store a full access history—time-stamped events and which user issued each command. • Present all of that data in a detailed dashboard: live widgets, trend graphs, charts, and a scrollable log panel. • Send email and push notifications if the gate is forced, left open too long, or if the Pi or server drops offline. Core tech is flexible as long as it’s reliable; MQTT, Python, Node-RED, or direct ThingsBoard integrations are all fine. The server is already provisioned (Ubuntu 22.04, root access ready). I’ll want clean code, commented where it matters, and a short deployment script so I can recreate the setup on a spare Pi if needed. Deliverables 1. Raspberry Pi image (or Ansible/Bash script) that: – Drives the gate relay and status sensors – Secures connectivity to ThingsBoard with TLS 2. ThingsBoard installation on my VPS with: – Custom dashboards matching the spec above – Role-based logins for Administrator and Operator levels 3. Notification service configured for my SMTP and preferred push channel (Firebase or similar). Acceptance criteria • Command-to-action latency under 1 second on the local network. • Dashboard widgets refresh every 2 seconds or faster. • Access logs stored for minimum 90 days and exportable as CSV. Hand-over includes all source files, documentation, and a quick Zoom walkthrough. If you’ve built similar IoT control systems, especially with ThingsBoard, I’d love to see a demo or screenshots when you bid. 2. Scope of Work The Service Provider will: 1-Configure Raspberry Pi to communicate with ThingsBoard using MQTT 2-Implement gate open/close control logic on the Raspberry Pi 3-Integrate Raspberry Pi with the Client’s self-hosted ThingsBoard instance 4-Configure telemetry and server-side RPC for gate control 5-Create a functional ThingsBoard dashboard for client PC access 6-Implement basic reliability and safety handling (reconnects, command validation) Provide documentation for setup, operation, and future extension The Service Provider will deliver: • Raspberry Pi application source code • MQTT communication setup with ThingsBoard • Configured ThingsBoard dashboards • Basic wiring / interface guidance • Setup and usage documentation 1.3D Graphic pages shall be prepared for the operation to monitor the status of each barrier. [login to view URL] status of each Boom Barriers Open/ Close/ Trouble shall be displayed by change of colors. [login to view URL] actual, real time operational status of each Boom Barrier shall be displayed on the graphic page. [login to view URL] Alarms shall pop up on the screen. Please prepare the following graphic pages in the system, not limited to: a. Home Page Graphic b. Cluster Wise Graphic Pages c. Basement Wise Graphic Pages 6. Each page must include fully functional navigation buttons, including: a. Home b. Next c. Previous d. Back (if required) e. Cluster Selection (for relevant pages) f. Basement Selection (for relevant pages), etc., [login to view URL] to prepare and submit the technical document for the 3D Graphic pages and obtain all approvals. [login to view URL] plan graphic pages shall be developed to clearly display all access control and traffic management equipment installed on each level. The graphics must include accurate placement and labeling of the Boom barriers, etc., devices on the layout. It shall also be possible to group the barriers/blockers to open/close them. The Job Tasks: Milestone 1 — System review, Pi image cleanup, and one-barrier test setup Review the existing setup, current Raspberry Pi image, Python script, MQTT flow, provisioning/token handling, barrier controller manual, and layout drawings. Clean and prepare the Pi setup, confirm startup service, confirm MQTT connection, and prepare one test barrier for control and feedback validation. Milestone 2 — Real barrier feedback and safe control logic Implement actual open / close / trouble feedback from the barrier controller or available input points. Add safe relay control, command validation, reconnect handling, offline handling, and logic to prevent false status reporting. The goal is to show actual barrier status, not assumed status. Milestone 3 — ThingsBoard configuration, logs, alarms, and user roles Configure ThingsBoard devices, telemetry keys, attributes, RPC commands, dashboard widgets, user roles, access history, event logs, alarm rules, offline detection, long-open alerts, fault alerts, retention settings, and CSV export where required. Milestone 4 — 3D graphic dashboard pages and navigation Rashid Tech Solutions Page 1 Create the Home page, basement-wise pages, cluster-wise pages, floor-plan based 3D graphic views, navigation buttons, barrier placement, labeling, and live visual structure based on the provided layout drawings. Milestone 5 — Full integration, grouped control, testing, and handover Apply the confirmed control and feedback setup across all required barriers. Add grouped open/close control by cluster or basement, live color change for each barrier, popup alarms, final testing, fixes, deployment notes, source files, and documentation handover.

For a IoT Gate Barrier Controller, the challenge is rarely the features themselves but making a dashboard that stays clear and stable as the data grows. I've handled similar builds involving Python, Linux, Cloud Computing, MQTT, with the focus on making the workflow stable rather than just adding features. My approach would be to first map the critical user/admin flow, then lock the data/API structure, so the first version is usable and not fragile. For this project, I would focus especially on: - Python architecture and data flow - Linux edge cases and integration points - Cloud Computing delivery in a clean milestone plan I can share a short execution plan here before we start if you would like. Hi, I’m Slavko. Your smart gate barrier setup with Raspberry Pi, ThingsBoard, real-time status, alerts, and 3D-style graphic pages is clear. I’ve built similar IoT control systems using MQTT, Python, and custom dashboards, so I can cover both the Pi wiring logic and the server side. I’d deliver the full workflow: clean Pi code, secure MQTT to your VPS, RPC control, fast-refresh widgets, and the extra navigation pages you listed. • Pi app for relay control, sensors, and TLS • ThingsBoard dashboards with graphics, logs, alerts • Role-based access setup • Notification pipeline via SMTP and push • Floor-plan layouts with barrier grouping I can start right away and can finish in about two weeks. Do you already have the gate’s sensor wiring map, or should I derive the I/O scheme directly from the relay hardware? Greetings, Slavko

Keeping command-to-action under 1 second on a Pi→ThingsBoard loop is doable, but you must avoid polling-heavy dashboards and rely on server-side RPC plus WebSocket pushes. In my experience the usual breakpoints are MQTT reconnects and unversioned floorplan graphics; both kill the real-time feel and audit trail. I'll deliver a Python daemon (paho-mqtt + pigpio) to drive relays and read sensors, run it as a systemd service, secure MQTT with TLS and device tokens, and expose server-side RPC for instant commands. On the VPS I’ll provision ThingsBoard with Ansible, set role-based users, 90-day retention with CSV export, and build SVG-based 3D graphic widgets/pages (home, cluster, basement) with alarms, navigation buttons and FCM/SMTP notifications. Quick question: do you already have floorplan/SVG assets for each level or should I produce them from your drawings?

The interesting part here isn’t the relay control — it’s making the dashboard a single source of truth: 3D graphics, floor plans, role-based access and a 90-day audit trail that actually exports clean. Sub-second latency on LAN is straightforward; the real work is the graphics layer and grouped barrier control done properly inside ThingsBoard. Why me? • Hands-on Raspberry Pi 5 deployments with TLS-secured MQTT to ThingsBoard — same backbone this job needs. • Built ThingsBoard admin panels and custom dashboards including role-based Admin/Operator logins and server-side RPC control. • Ubuntu 22.04 self-hosted ThingsBoard setup with Bash/Ansible re-deploy scripts so you can rebuild on a spare Pi in minutes. • Clean cluster and basement floor-plan graphics with grouped open/close, alarm pop-ups and CSV-exportable logs. • Five-minute response in work hours, daily progress updates, 2 weeks free post-deployment support. Open to a 15-minute call to walk through the dashboard structure?
