Congressperson Research Paper

Directions: research project on the Congressperson Senator Paul Simon, including:
&#9688; who was their constituency,
&#9688; the main issues they supported,
&#9688; local and national plurality (what interests are they juggling?),
&#9688; committees they were on (and the responsibility, power, and influence of the committee),
&#9688; prestige within the House,
&#9688; power and influence within their party,
&#9688; bills they have sponsored or co-authored, and the long term effects that legislation has produced.
&#9688; Long term actions they were involved in, including wars, military actions, and influential legislation
-Civil Rights movement,
-expansion West during Manifest Destiny,
-treatment of Native Americans,
-treatment of Japanese during WWII or Germans during WWI,
-those who supported creation of the state of Israel,
-those involved with abortion/privacy/birth control legislation,
-Civil War or Vietnam leaders.
RULE 1: Papers must be 1500-2500 words in length.
