Project Description: I am seeking a structural engineer or BIM specialist to support a student team competing in the 2026 Timber-Strong Design Build (TSDB) Competition[cite: 51, 58]. The goal is to design and model a sustainable, 2-story light-framed wood building that is artistically creative, structurally sound, and meets all competition requirements. Project Scope: Structural Analysis: Provide legible hand-written calculations (digital handwriting is acceptable) using the Allowable Stress Design (ASD) method. Note that computer-automated analysis (Excel, RISA, etc.) is strictly prohibited for final submission and will result in point deductions. BIM Modeling: Develop a complete Revit (.rvt) superstructure model demonstrating a continuous load path for gravity and wind. Construction Drawings: Create 22" x 34" PDF framing plans, shear wall details, and foundation anchorage plans. Technical Constraints: Dimensions: 2-story structure with a Ground floor max of 6'0" x 8'0", a 2nd floor max of 7'4" x 8'0", and a maximum height of 12 feet. Key Features: Must include a 16-inch cantilevered second-floor system and a 4'1" cantilevered floor beam supporting a 150 lb point load. Deflection: The cantilever beam must be designed for a predicted deflection between 0.5 and 1.0 inches when loaded 3'-6" from the wall. Materials: Construction is limited to nominal 2 x 4 minimum sawn lumber (DF, SP, HF, etc.) and wood structural panels. Required Expertise: Proficiency in Autodesk Revit (submission must be a .rvt file) Strong understanding of wood light-frame construction and lateral design standards (SDPWS and ASCE 7-22). Experience producing professional structural documentation and "Continuous Load Path" analysis. Deliverables: Phase 1A: Project Report and structural calculations in PDF format. Phase 1B: Structural Drawings (PDF) and BIM Model (Revit).
