I intend to take a concept for a full-scale humanoid robot from first sketch to a functional prototype. The robot’s primary purpose is Engineering—serving as a versatile research and test platform rather than a consumer-facing service unit. It has to either move on pre - built mobile base and next version should walk, balance, manipulate light tools and interact with control software in both indoor and outdoor settings, coping with smooth floors, low steps, light gravel and moderate weather. Scope of work The work spans mechanical design, electronics, firmware and high-level control software. A ROS-compatible architecture is preferred so future modules can be added quickly. Articulated arms (6-DOF each), a head with stereo vision, depth sensing and IMU-based balance feedback are required. Locomotion should rely on electric actuators with enough torque for short outdoor inclines. Power may come from a backpack battery pack that allows at least 30 minutes of untethered operation; a tethered bench-test mode should also be available. Key deliverables • Detailed CAD files and all native source models • Full bill of materials with vendor links and part numbers • Low-level motor control firmware and ROS node templates • Wiring diagrams, PCB Gerbers and enclosure specs • Assembly manual with calibration steps • Video demonstration showing stable bipedal walking indoors and on an outdoor path (paved or compact gravel) • Final report summarising performance metrics, limitations and next-step recommendations Acceptance criteria A successful hand-off will see the robot stand from a seated position, or move using the mobile base from x to y location, or walk 5 m forward, turn 90°, grasp a 1 kg object from a 0.8 m high surface and return, both inside a lab and outside on level ground, with remote stop and fault messages logged through ROS. All source files must compile or open without error in the stated toolchains. Feel free to suggest component substitutions where they improve reliability or shorten lead-time, but keep the overall indoor–outdoor capability and Engineering focus intact.

Hi I am an embedded systems engineer with over 16 years of experience in robotics, motion control, embedded electronics and full prototype development from concept through CAD, PCB, firmware, integration and testing. This is a serious multidisciplinary humanoid platform, so I would handle it as an engineering program with staged milestones rather than only a CAD exercise. My approach would be to first lock down the robot size, payload, actuator torque margins, power budget and safety requirements, then build a ROS-compatible architecture around modular motor controllers, IMU/depth/stereo feedback, remote stop and fault logging. For the first prototype I can support the mobile-base option while preparing the mechanical and control foundation for the walking version. Deliverables can include native CAD, BOM with vendor links, wiring, PCB Gerbers, firmware, ROS node templates, assembly/calibration documentation and test reporting. I also have experience designing consumer-grade and research-grade products where reliability, serviceability and lead-time matter, so I can suggest practical component substitutions where they reduce risk. A few points to confirm: target height/weight, whether the mobile base already exists, preferred CAD/toolchain, and expected budget for actuators and sensors. Please contact me to discuss details.

Hi, The biggest risk in this project is not building a humanoid robot—it is achieving reliable and safe integration of locomotion, manipulation, sensing, and control systems into a single platform that can operate consistently in both indoor and outdoor environments while maintaining stability, power efficiency, and real-time responsiveness. I have 30 years of experience in robotics, embedded systems, motor control, sensor fusion, ROS-based architectures, PCB design, and electromechanical prototype development for complex automation systems. For this project, I would focus on: ✅Developing a modular architecture that supports both the initial mobile-base platform and future bipedal capabilities. ✅Designing robust electronics, actuator control, and sensor fusion systems using stereo vision, depth sensors, and IMU feedback. ✅Building a scalable ROS-compatible framework for navigation, manipulation, diagnostics, and future feature expansion. The goal is to deliver an engineering-grade humanoid research platform with reliable indoor-outdoor operation and a strong foundation for future autonomous capabilities. A couple of questions: 1. Do you already have target dimensions, payload requirements, and weight constraints? 2. Are you planning to use commercial actuators initially or develop custom actuators later? If you message me, I can outline the most practical architecture and development roadmap for your humanoid robot project. Best regards, Prat PCB Must Innovations

I understand you need a functional prototype of an indoor-outdoor engineering humanoid robot, starting from sketch to a working platform capable of moving on various terrains and interacting with control software. I recently completed a similar project, delivering a fully functional robotic arm prototype that successfully manipulated objects in a dynamic environment with simulated outdoor conditions. My approach will involve creating detailed 3D CAD models for the chassis and manipulator components using SolidWorks, followed by sourcing and integrating off-the-shelf actuators and sensors. Firmware development will utilize C++ on an STM32 microcontroller for low-level motor control and sensor data acquisition. For high-level control, I will build a Python-based ROS system, enabling navigation and manipulation tasks, visualized and tested within Gazebo simulations before hardware integration. What specific types of light tools does the robot need to manipulate, and what are the primary interaction parameters for the control software? Ready to start as soon as you confirm scope.

Hello, Your project’s vision to turn a full-scale humanoid concept into an engineering-grade research prototype is ambitious, and it needs a careful architecture from day one—not just parts assembled together. My approach will be to structure the robot around a ROS-compatible stack, with clean separation between mechanical design, embedded motor control, perception, balance feedback, safety logic, and high-level command software. The first prototype can be designed around a reliable mobile base for early indoor/outdoor validation, while keeping the mechanical and control architecture ready for the next walking/balancing version. I’ll help define the actuator selection, sensor stack, battery/tethered power strategy, motor firmware, ROS node templates, stereo/depth vision pipeline, IMU feedback handling, wiring layout, PCB/enclosure requirements, and complete engineering documentation. You’ll receive CAD-ready design coordination, BOM with vendor-ready part references, control software structure, calibration workflow, and a clear prototype handoff package focused on reliability and future expansion. My background in embedded systems, C++, computer vision, backend control software, and scalable system architecture fits well with a humanoid platform that must be practical, modular, and testable.
