Technical Estimator / Solar Design Assistant – Integrated Solar Roofing

We are a Sydney-based premium integrated solar roofing company looking for a reliable and experienced freelancer to support our growing technical sales and estimating team on an ongoing basis. This role is focused specifically on high-end integrated solar roofing systems and architectural residential projects — not standard rack-mounted solar systems. We are looking for somebody technically capable, highly organised, and detail-oriented who can assist with estimating, solar layouts, takeoffs, and proposal preparation as our company continues to scale nationally across Australia. Key Requirements: * Experience using **SolarPlus** software * Experience using **roof takeoff / estimating software** (GroundPlan preferred) * Ability to accurately interpret architectural and roofing plans * Ability to produce accurate roofing and solar estimates * Strong understanding of integrated solar roofing systems * Experience with battery systems is a bonus * Experience with **Simpro** software would be highly regarded * Strong written and spoken English communication skills * Ability to work independently and manage workflow efficiently About the Role: You will work closely with our technical salesperson and management team assisting with: * Reviewing incoming plans and enquiries * Producing preliminary roofing and solar estimates * Completing roofing and solar takeoffs * Assisting with integrated solar system layouts * Supporting proposal preparation and calculations * Reviewing quantities, specifications, and materials * Assisting with workflow integration into Simpro over time Communication & Systems: As we are an Australian company dealing with clients, suppliers, architects, and internal staff daily, clear English communication is critical for this role. Applicants must be confident communicating in English both verbally and in writing. While bilingual applicants are welcome, professional-level English is required. We also operate using: * Internal knowledge base systems * Slack for daily communication * Structured digital workflows * Cloud-based estimating and operational systems The successful applicant must be comfortable working within organised digital systems and maintaining consistent communication with the team. Ideal Candidate: * Background in solar estimating, roofing estimating, or technical sales support * Strong attention to detail * Responsive and organised * Comfortable working remotely * Experience with high-end residential or architectural projects preferred * Understanding of roofing systems, solar integration, and construction drawings Important: This role is specifically for high-end integrated solar roofing projects and architectural residential homes.
