I have VB6 software which communicates to our data logger. It works fine until we get to DBCS (double byte character system) computers. For some reason, the PC refuses to send certain characters (about 10%) correctly. Here's a link to another programmer who encountered a similar problem: [login to view URL]
I need some code which allows, say, Chr$(151) to be sent as "_" and not Chr$(-32443) I'm finding that the DBCS computer will convert this and most all the characters I'm having trouble with to -32443
For example, here's some simple code to illustrate the problem:
GL% = 151
GLChr$ = Chr$(GL%) 'create string
GLInt% = Asc(GLChr$) 'convert back to integer
GLInt% is now -32443
I need a reliable method to send characters on a DBCS computer.
