Design heat shields for exhaust components such as manifolds and exhaust pipes. The shields consist of metal foil, two layers with insulation material in the middle. The designer models over a solid object such as an exhaust manifold or pipes with complex planes and geometry with the ability to blend different planes together creating an inner component that closely models the shape of the solid, and an outer component separated from the inner component by thin insulation material. The components are designed to then have tooling produced to manufacture each shell, and final assembly is done with high frequency resistance welding where the parts are welded together. Then, mechanical fasteners may be used to hold onto an exhaust component. Other designs could include similar design, but designed shield is more exact fit and welded directly on manifold.
