I need an automatic value replacement written. Any way you prefer to code it is fine by me, as long as it works flawlessly and it's simple and fast.
The details of the job are rather complex and please feel free to message me for more information. We also have a sample app that works to a very limited degree with severe limitations that have to be overcome. The essence is as follows:
These lists are in .xls but can be in .csv, .txt, or anything else you need.
I have a list where approx. 100,000 codes are listed with various equivalencies. Some have a couple of equivalencies, some have a dozen or more.
So just for a hypothetical example:
Primary code A00000001 is listed along with the following equivalencies: A00000002, A00000003, A00000004, and A00000005.
The input will have hundreds, even thousands of these primary codes in any one file. They all have to be autoconverted to the proper equivalencies at random.
So when the input is A00000001, the script has to fetch A00000004, but the next time it has to fetch A00000002. Completely random.
There will be some codes that do not have equivalencies so when the script comes across them they should just be ignored and left alone. Also note that codes vary widely in length. It's also a lot more complex than this and I realize that this may be not be an easy prospect to grasp, so I will be more than happy to answer any questions.
Thanks in advance.
