I am trying to setup a computer to use apache server so that I can access it as a web server from outside of my network. I have already completed the following steps:
1) installed apache release [url removed, login to view] as localhost
2) forwarded port 80 on my router to my local system
3) setup DMZ for the IP address of my local system on my router
I am not sure what other additional setup needs to take place - this is what I am looking for help with. I am not sure if I need to make changes to windows hosts file, apache conf files, etc.
I am not trying to access with a domain - I just want to set this up temporarily and use my router's public IP address to access the web server.
This is all in an effort to test an internet connection at another location to make sure port 80 can accept incoming requests - but I need to make sure it is working at my current location first.
I can setup a service like [url removed, login to view] on the xp computer if computer access is needed.
I am hoping to complete this task within the next hour.
