Question: A 3 kHz voice channel is used to transmit digital data via a modem. The signal-to-noise ration (S/N) is 30 dB. What is the maximum channel capacity, in bits per second?

Use the formula:

Maximum number of bits/sec = WLOG22 (1+S/N)

where W is the bandwidth and S/N is the signal-to-noise ratio
