Creo Parametric 2.0 assignment

The task is creating a brief drawing package detailing an assembly of the fastening of two adjacent rigid plates of arbitrary size/shape. Any number of parts may be used (minimum 2, one for each plate). Include a detailed description of how their fastener system works, how it is assembled (including machining processes if necessary), what materials used (including the plates), and the advantages and disadvantages of their system. This is an open-ended problem with many possible solutions. The solution you choose is not important, but it must be analyzed thoroughly.


One isometric drawing of the assembly, including callouts and a parts list. Drawings of individual parts are not necessary, but encouraged if a number of unique parts are used. A detailed written description/analysis of your assembly is necessary.

Items to Consider:

Consider the following questions in your analysis. This is not a complete list of questions to consider, nor do you need to answer all of them, but it is a good starting point for your analysis.

Are there any material compatibility issues?

Is the joint a high strength joint?

Is it a flexible joint?

How much does the joint weigh relative to the plates?

Does the joint transfer vibrations across it?

Is the joint machining intensive, or require some additional work process?

Does the joint require the plates to be machined?

Is the joint aesthetic or structural in appearance?

How does the joint perform in different environmental conditions?

Is the joint watertight?

Is the joint assembly simple or complex?

Are there any shape/geometry limitations to your assembly?

Is your assembly dependent or independent of the plate material?

Can the joint be disassembled?

Does the joint maintain the full strength of the plate?

Grades will be based upon the following:

Detail of the assembly.

Depth of analysis of the design considerations.
