I am Jacob Koch, CEO of Monochromatic games. We are a startup indie studio with 34 people currently on our team. Most of these people are remote with our studio being based in Atlanta. They are all working for a rev share which I will discuss further below. We mainly focus on games built in Unity using C#.
Our group: The team is pretty relaxed generally and the members are free to work on any of our active projects and their own if their isn't anything that's active that doesn't look interesting. That's in general, right now though we have been hired for part of a rev share to complete a game by July 9th. The majority of my team got busy with school or work so there are only a few that are working on it weekly. So if you make a post understand that this project will need to be completed first and quickly as the deadline is getting close.
The Project: Models will be animating creatures, terrain foliage, and tools throughout the duration of the project, a plus if you can animate. The animators duty will be to rig/animate the mobs that the modelers are making. The mobs are 2 and 4 legged creatures, they will need to have fluid animations for moving around, attacking, and taking damage.
Contracts: Everyone will need to sign a contract so that we can consider you as independent contractors. That also means no one under the age of 18. The contracts are pretty standard and I am fully willing to break it down piece by piece to help you understand any of it. Most of our communications are through Slack which I will send you a NDA that can simple be agreed to and I will add you to our group. Sorry about all the contracts, the independent is to make sure we are covered for tax time and the NDA's are what was requested by us from the person who is hiring us.
Compensation: We are doing a percentage based comparison on number of hours worked by everyone. Which means if there are 2 people; person 1 worked 10 hours and person 2 worked 20 hours. person 2 would get 66% of the payroll. Payroll is equal 80% of our cut - 10% from that 80% for bonus for those who have gone far and beyond. So, 1000 is base income, 800 would go into payroll and 720 would be divided out among the workers based on percentages worked and 80 would be for bonuses. We have guaranteed percentages, work 40 hours and get 1% work 80 and get 2%. If your guaranteed percentage is less than your actual percentage then we work with the bigger one.
Thank you for reading all of this, its a mouthful but I hope some of you may find interest.
