Hello, I am looking for help/tuition on a personal Maya project. I do not want it to be done for me - but instead to be guided through the problems I am experiencing .
Firstly, you must have an expert/professional knowledge of:
* Autodesk Maya (specifically 2010)
* and within Maya: rigging, modelling and general overall understanding of all elements of the program
The model I am currently working on is a bird (more so an emu/ostrich rather than a hawk). The wing I am working on in a separate files to be adapted to the model is actually more like a hawk, but I was hoping to "fit" it to work on my creature, as it is fantastical more than factual.
My particular problems are -
1. Modelling, rigging and animating a wing. I have tried several approaches to this so I have various files at different stages. I can and will supply all of these, if required/preferred.
2. Rigging the main creature itself. It currently has a very basic rig but I am very novice and am having trouble setting it up. The specific problems with the rigging are the neck (which I want to work rather like a tail as it is long and has several joints), the legs and feet - though I would like to get a general understanding. If possible, I would also like it to have animation controls, constraints, joint limitations and foot planting - but will skip on these if they are too time consuming and advanced for my level.
Here is a link to a forum thread detailing my wing problem and solutions. Unfortunately, there were communication problems and I'm still trying to sort them out.

I was following the PDF file linked on the Bournemouth University website but encountered problems. My current problem stopping me advancing is binding the skeleton to the wing correctly. The file supplied has the meshes parented under the joints but when I try to parent them the mesh is changed and moved, rendering it useless.
If you are seriously interested in this project I will send you the files I'm working on.
