Approximately 37.5 minutes of MP3 audio needs to be transcribed, though the job is actually less than the 37.5 minutes. The MP3's contain several of my interview subjects as part of an article to be published in the next few days. A significant portion of the 37.5 minutes is generic back-and-forth talking and silence, which can be skipped through.
The reporter's voice is obvious. Each interviewee typically provides his/her name and spelling prior to the interview. Some jump in -- a general description of the voice is sufficient (for example, "recording 8" has some young-sounding kid jump in with a dopey kind of voice. Audio also contains some ambient reaction from people listening in, like "oh my!" which can be excluded.) I just need the primary and obvious interview subjects.
Attention to detail is essential. The transcription must be verbatim. If the sentence cannot be understood in its entirety, a paraphrasing is acceptable so long as noted as such. If an important word is not understandable, transcribe it as such -- don't guess. (Ie, "I think Johnny will [unintelligible] the fair!" but note the timecode -- the filename and time of the unintelligible quote.)
Superfast work is required. Excellent transcription and turnaround will definitely lead to far more work.
The transcription must be completed ASAP.
