I’m stuck getting my Hikvision DVR reachable over the internet through a Starlink-to-Ubiquiti UDM-US setup that’s running in bypass mode. Starlink is already handing out a public IPv6 prefix and both the UDM-US and the DVR pull valid v6 addresses, yet external access still fails. My own attempt to enable IPv6 firewall rules on the UDM-US hasn’t worked, so I suspect a rule mis-match or possibly something buried in the Hikvision network menu. What I need—fast—is someone who knows the UDM interface and Starlink quirks well enough to: • verify / correct IPv6 prefix delegation and routing on the UDM-US • craft any necessary IPv6 firewall rules or port-forward equivalents to expose the DVR securely • confirm the DVR’s IPv6 settings and walk me through any Hikvision-specific toggles Once I can open the DVR’s web interface from an external IPv6 network and stream recorded video, the job is done and I’ll close the project immediately. Remote work only: I can share screenshots or give temporary controller access as needed.

Hello Scott, Thank you for the detailed description of your setup and the challenges with IPv6 access to your Hikvision DVR. I understand the urgency of getting your DVR securely accessible over IPv6, especially given the complexities introduced by Starlink’s prefix delegation and the UDM-US in bypass mode. With extensive experience in network engineering, Linux systems, and Ubiquiti devices—including UDM and Starlink integrations—I’ve helped clients achieve exactly this type of remote access. I’m familiar with the quirks of Starlink’s IPv6 delegation, the nuances of the UDM’s firewall and routing rules, and the specific settings within Hikvision devices that can make or break external connectivity. Here’s how I’ll approach your project: - First, I’ll verify the IPv6 prefix delegation on your UDM-US and ensure it’s routing traffic as expected to your internal network and the DVR. - Next, I’ll review and correct IPv6 firewall rules or set up secure port-forward equivalents on the UDM-US, taking care to minimize exposure while enabling the necessary access. - I’ll guide you through confirming and adjusting the DVR’s IPv6 configuration, including any Hikvision-specific toggles or security settings that might affect external reachability. - Throughout, I’ll provide clear instructions or remote support—whether through screenshots, step-by-step guidance, or temporary controller access—until you can reliably access the DVR’s web interface and stream video externally. I look forward to helping you resolve this quickly and securely!

Hi, there, I have 7+ years of experience in network security and Unifi/Ubiquiti deployments, with extensive IPv6 and secure remote access expertise. I have mastered the required skill set, including UDM-US configuration, IPv6 prefix delegation, firewall rules, and Hikvision network settings. I will leverage hands-on experience from similar Starlink/Ubiquiti deployments to enable reliable IPv6 reachability while keeping the DVR exposure minimal and secure. ✅ Verify and correct IPv6 prefix delegation and routing on the UDM-US, ensuring the Starlink-provided IPv6 prefix is properly advertised to the DVR and reachable from the internet. ✅ Craft precise IPv6 firewall rules or port-forward equivalents tailored to the DVR's needs, with least-privilege access and secure remote connectivity. ✅ Validate the DVR's IPv6 settings in Hikvision menus (gateway, IPv6 toggle, DNS) and adjust as needed for external access. ✅ Perform end-to-end testing from an external IPv6 network, confirm web interface access and video streaming, and document any adjustments. ✅ Provide a concise checklist and steps to reproduce, plus screenshots and backups for future reference, so you can audit or revert if Starlink/Ubiquiti change defaults. I look forward to working with you. Best Regards, Rosita Iniesta.

Hello, there! I can get your Hikvision DVR reachable over IPv6 through your Starlink → UDM-US setup and close this out quickly. I’ve worked with UniFi gateways, Starlink IPv6 behavior, and IPv6-only exposure scenarios, so I’ll start by validating prefix delegation and routing on the UDM-US in bypass mode to ensure the delegated /56 or /64 is actually usable end-to-end. From there, I’ll craft the correct IPv6 firewall rules on the UDM-US (the IPv6 equivalent of port forwarding) to securely expose only the required DVR services. I’ll also review the Hikvision network configuration with you, confirm its IPv6 address selection, gateway behavior, and any Hikvision-specific toggles that commonly block external access even when an address is present. The goal is straightforward: reliably load the DVR web interface from an external IPv6 network and confirm live and recorded video streaming before we wrap up. Best regards, Ian Brown

Hello, It seems you're facing issues with making your Hikvision DVR accessible via IPv6 on your Starlink-to-Ubiquiti setup. I can step in to resolve this quickly. I’ll first verify the IPv6 prefix delegation and routing on your UDM-US. If there are any firewall rules or port-forward settings that need adjustments, I'll handle those. Additionally, I’ll check your DVR’s IPv6 configuration to ensure it’s correctly set for external access. Once we confirm everything is in place, you should be able to access the DVR from outside your network seamlessly. Let’s get this sorted out quickly! When can we start working on this?

Hi, I've reviewed your challenge with enabling IPv6 access to your Hikvision DVR via the Starlink-to-Ubiquiti UDM-US setup. I have hands-on experience configuring UDM devices and managing IPv6 deployments including prefix delegation, firewall rules, and secure external access. I understand Starlink's unique public IPv6 provisioning and have dealt with similar complexities ensuring correct routing and firewall policies. My approach will start by verifying the IPv6 prefix delegation and routing on your UDM-US, then crafting precise IPv6 firewall rules or port forwards to securely expose your DVR. I'll also guide you through the Hikvision network menu to adjust any IPv6 settings needed for remote access and streaming. We can proceed efficiently with remote sessions and screenshots, aiming for quick resolution. I can start promptly and typically resolve these within a day or two. Could you share the current IPv6 firewall rules you have attempted on the UDM-US to help pinpoint any mismatches? Best regards, Andrew
