There are 3 main event logs [security, system, application] in Windows server.
Each day at 00.01 a job should run to export the current events into a file, mail that file to staff then clear the event log.
To do this you can use the command line utility WEVTUTIL (Windows 2008 servers only), particularly the epl and cl parameters of this command
Create a script that will:
(i) Define the 3 parameters YY, MM and DD for Year, Month and Date respectively
(ii) Export each event log using "WEVTUTIL EPL <event log> <filename>"
where <event log> is one of the 4 event logs mentioned above and
<filename> is [url removed, login to view], where app is for the application log, sec will be the security log etc.
(iii) The export log should be stored on the D:\ partition of each server (e.g. D:\)
(iv) Mail these files to pertinent staff using the postie app
(v) Then clear the event log using "WEVTUTIL CL <event log>", ready for the next day's events.
(vi) This job will then be configured to run in the Scheduler (use the SchedulerSRV account for this).
I would prefer if you used VB Script as this runs seamlessly on Windows
