I am looking for a video editor to create a 1.5–2 minute travel video from footage I recorded during a trip to Bali and Lombok, Indonesia earlier this year. I have already pre-selected around 160 clips that I consider the most relevant and interesting footage for the final video. These should serve as the main pool of material for the edit. In addition, I have a larger pool of 400+ original clips available. If you feel that additional footage is needed to improve the storytelling, create a better transition between scenes, or add a particularly meaningful or beautiful moment, you are completely free to select additional clips from this larger pool. The idea is therefore not necessarily to go through and use all 400+ clips, but rather to have the additional footage available as a creative resource whenever you feel it would benefit the final story. Most of the footage was recorded with a 25-year-old camcorder, as I specifically wanted to travel light and capture the trip with an authentic, nostalgic VHS-style aesthetic. I also have some Insta360 & GoPro footage filmed in the water, which will require some color grading/correction. The footage can be integrated into the video, but I would like the overall visual identity to remain rooted in the nostalgic VHS/camcorder look. The camcorder footage appears to have been stretched slightly horizontally during digitization, which should hopefully be relatively easy to correct. Apart from that, I would prefer to preserve the original VHS look rather than heavily color-grade or clean up the footage. The imperfections, grain, colors and analog character are part of the appeal. Editing & Storytelling I would like the edit to be strongly driven by the music and its rhythm. Cuts can follow the beat where appropriate, with the pacing changing throughout the video depending on the mood of the music. Some sections can be calm and atmospheric, while others can be more energetic and dynamic. I want the video to feel like a personal memory of the trip, showing the people I experienced it with, our interactions, funny or spontaneous moments, and the atmosphere of the journey. At the same time, I don't want this to become a collection of random clips simply placed one after another. I would like the final video to tell a small story and have a sense of progression. The footage doesn't necessarily have to be edited chronologically, but the different scenes, locations and moments should feel connected and intentional. Creative transitions, seamless transitions, modern effects and even AI-assisted transitions are welcome if they genuinely improve the edit. However, I don't want the video to be overloaded with effects. The nostalgic VHS character should remain the main visual identity, with modern editing techniques used selectively to make the video more interesting and cohesive. I am deliberately giving you a lot of creative freedom regarding the structure, pacing, transitions and editing style. I would much rather see your creative interpretation of the footage than prescribe every single cut. Music For the overall atmosphere, I have a few music references in mind: “I'm God” – Clams Casino “Time to Pretend” – MGMT “Ganja” – Ooyy So you can choose one of these songs for an edit. Overall Goal The finished video should feel like a short cinematic memory of the trip rather than a conventional travel montage. The key elements for me are: Around 160 pre-selected clips as the main editing pool An additional pool of 400+ original clips available for creative selection when needed Final video length of approximately 1.5–2 minutes Music-driven editing and pacing People, interactions and authentic moments as a priority A coherent story/progression rather than random clips Nostalgic VHS/camcorder aesthetic Underwater footage integrated naturally Creative transitions and effects where they add value Modern editing techniques while preserving the analog character A strong sense of atmosphere and emotion Creative freedom for the editor Although the final video is only around 1.5–2 minutes long, I see this as a creative storytelling/editing project rather than a simple montage, with the additional footage available to give you the freedom to build the strongest possible story.

Hello, I hope you're doing well. I've cut several music-led travel edits, so this one speaks my language. The VHS character as the spine of the piece, with modern touches only where they earn their place, is exactly how I like to work. One recent project that shares the real challenge here: a couple's trip through northern Vietnam shot partly on a borrowed Hi8 camcorder and partly on a GoPro in Halong Bay. The camcorder files had the same horizontal stretch from digitization, which I corrected with a non-uniform scale in DaVinci Resolve before doing anything else. That step matters, because you can't judge the analog look properly until the geometry is right. I'd start by pulling your 160 clips into Resolve, sorting them into loose mood bins (calm, playful, water, transit), then cutting one of your three references against a rough beat map to find the natural pace. Probably the cleanest path is to let the song pick the song, so to speak, once I see how the footage breathes. The VHS grain and color I'd leave mostly untouched; the Insta360 and GoPro water footage gets a light grade to sit inside that world rather than beside it. Would be good to align on tone before I start cutting. Mainly whether "I'm God" or "Time to Pretend" feels closer to the memory you want to keep, and how present the people should be versus the landscapes. Happy to walk through a few transition ideas too. Thank you, Samnang

Your camcorder footage deserves an edit that treats the VHS grain as the star. A cinematic memory of Bali and Lombok built around your people and moments, cut to the rhythm of your chosen track. I will work from your 160 clips, pulling from the larger pool only where a better setup or transition calls for it. In DaVinci Resolve I will fix the horizontal stretch and match the underwater shots to the warm analog palette without scrubbing the grain. I produce video end to end. I recently made a 30-second Hindi video ad for my own AI app project Jyotish AI, and I run the MoneyBots AI-video pipeline (second finished video delivered this week). I cut to music while keeping the footage's character intact. Which of your three tracks feels closest to the mood you want, and should any camcorder ambient audio stay under the music, or is this a pure music cut? First cut ready in 7 days. Happy to cut a short sample section first so you can approve the look before I build the full piece.

I already see a clean way to execute this. I specialize in travel video editing with a focus on crafting engaging, story-driven content that captures the essence of your experiences. Your Bali and Lombok footage is a great canvas for creating a visually nostalgic travel video, and I have hands-on experience turning raw clips into polished stories. You want a 1.5–2 minute video that evokes the spirit of your travels—highlighting memorable moments and the unique vibe of those destinations without losing flow or impact. My approach centers on selecting your best shots, syncing visuals to a fitting soundtrack, and adding subtle transitions that enhance emotion without overpowering your story. Quick question before I get started: is there a particular mood or theme you'd like emphasized in the video? Hi dear respected I read your brief and love the idea of a nostalgic VHS-style memory of your trip. I'd edit it as a short story rather than a montage. What I'll do: Use your 160 selected clips as the main material, and pull extra clips from the larger pool only where they help the story Fix the horizontal stretch, keep the grain and analog look, and lightly color-match the Insta360/GoPro underwater shots so they blend in Focus on people, interactions and spontaneous moments, with a clear start, middle and end Use a few clean, creative transitions, nothing overloaded Price: $400 USD fixed Timeline: 2 day Could you share a sample of the footage and tell me which song you prefer? Best regards, muhammad

I'm Christopher. I run DetailDone Studio — transcription, captions, podcast show notes, data entry, lead lists, writing, and short-form video editing. Fast turnaround, clean work, and every order gets a careful QA pass before delivery. If it's not right, I make it right. Your Bali/Lombok project is exactly the kind of edit I enjoy: music-driven pacing, a real story arc, and a strong visual identity to protect. I'm comfortable cutting VHS/camcorder footage, correcting the stretched digitization, and grading the GoPro/Insta360 underwater clips so they sit naturally in the nostalgic world without losing the analog character. I'll build the 1.5–2 minute cut around your chosen track and your 160 selects, pulling from the wider pool only where it strengthens the story.
