The following project requires a number of features to be built onto an existing database. The project will use Microsoft Access and an experienced VBA developer will be required
The database consists of 10-12 tables and each table consists of 4-8 fields. The database is currently empty but I will put in some test data before sending the database to the selected bidder.
The features that need to be added to the database are as follows:
1. Create a change log:
This log will need to track changes made to the database
Ideally I would like to store the details of :
• What has been done – whether data, has been modified, deleted or updated and to what data
• Who has done it – using the 'environ' method built in to windows to get the user name
• When it was done – date and time

2. Import functionality.
We will need to take data from a spreadsheet and import it into corresponding tables in the database.
The spreadsheets consist of 36 columns.
Each new row in the spreadsheet will need to be imported into the database.
The 36 columns need to be imported into the 7 corresponding tables.
However we need to generate a primary key for each row of data entered into the database. There will only be one primary key for the 36 columns although this primary key will be a foreign key in 6 other tables.( auto number could be used but is probably not ideal as it can cause problems later on )
This import functionality will be used regularly to import data so it needs to be quite robust and the locations of the spreadsheet will change so the ability to ‘browse’ to the spreadsheet using the windows browser is essential.
