I want an appointment to be created 2 BUSINESS DAYS after I send emails out with a certain title, eg I send "first email" as the title and then an appointment is automatically made 2 days later. The appointment should contain some contact details (email, name, company name and telephone number) of the contact that I was writing the email to before I click send and the appointment is automatically created.
I'm not looking for a COM add-in because there is an easier way to do it. I'm already using a commercial Outlook add-in called "Email Templates". This add-in gives the ability to get all of the contact's details and pass them as variables into a MAPI tag of the message using 2 or 3 lines of VBscript. See [url removed, login to view]
It would be a matter of passing the required contact variables into the MAPI tag when the message was being parsed by the "EMail Templates" add-in (as the message was being created) then transferring the contents of the MAPI tag into a newly created appointment when the email was sent. This shoudl be able to avoid security dialogues because you should not need to communicate with the address book. I have the VB code for much of the macro stuff, which you can use, it's just getting to grips with "Email Templates" and the appropriate MAPI tags which may take an hour or two. Preliminary tests suggest that this will not be possible without using the "Email Templates" functionality.
If you can get this working this far ideally as a nice extra I would like the appointment to be linked to the contact from which the email was written. "Email Templates" could pass the contact's name over so this should be possible. Please mention whether you think you could do this as well.
