Native French speaker with knowledge of grammar and colloquial speech, plus very strong English language skills, required for a video translation project in October / November 2022.
To take the English language scripts already documented, plus any on-screen captions, and to provide a text translation into French, of the English content. Approx 35 videos are to be translated from English into French - scripts are already documented in English. Videos are typically 2 - 3 minutes in duration, some up to 5 minutes.
Approx 50% of the videos (animations) will require recording of a voice-over in French, to align with the timing of the English commentary / dialogue. Voice over skills will be an advantage and will be part of this project for recording the translated audio.
Approx 50% of the videos are 'role play' with local people acting out the script - for these we plan to use subtitles and leave the English dialogue in place. RGC will share the English video versions for the purposes of aligning the French translation.
Use of audio recording and editing software will be an advantage when creating the voice over content, to ensure the audio aligns with the video timing.
Starting end September, the successful person will need to be available for approx. 35 hours throughout October and into November (our estimate).
All work can be performed remotely, and shared on-line, typically via RGC Teams channels. You should have access to Microsoft MS365 applications or the equivalent for text editing purposes, plus the ability to edit audio tracks to length. Video editing software to add the subtitles / voice over audio will be needed if you propose to do that as part of your solution. We can edit in-house, if necessary, given the audio mp3 file or equivalent.
Estimated Effort: 50 - 60 hours.
Translation of text to French: 35 items: 20 hours.
Recording of the voice-over commentary: 18 items: 15 hours. (Videos are all between 3-5 minutes long)
Adding the subtitles to the role-play videos (approx 17): 20 hours
Some provision for rework should be expected. We estimate 20% of the items may need minor amendments post translation.
(We will accept estimates over these amounts with justification.)
