We have about 15,000 entries in our Wordpress-powered blog. They go back about seven years to June 2003 and they're posted under several dozen categories and several dozen authors. Very few have comments. We recently moved our main College Recruiter web site to the Ning platform and even more recently they released an API that one of their developers said will allow us to migrate our Wordpress blog entries into the Ning blog. I want you to do that.
All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Employer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No 3rd party components unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the employer on the site per the worker's Worker Legal Agreement). The Ning developer said that we might have a problem migrating the comments. I'd like you to migrate the comments so they appear with their entries but if that cannot be done then I'm okay with not migrating the comments. The Ning developer also said that we might have a problem migrating the entries if we don't have as members of our Ning site all of the authors of our Wordpress blog. Each blog entry and comment should remain associated with its author. Most and perhaps all of the Wordpress authors are also members of our Ning network. If you find any who aren't it will likely be only five to 10 such people and you can create a member account for them on our site using Gmail for their email address. You'll provide us with a list of those people along with their Gmail addresses and passwords to us so we can log into our Ning management screen and re-assign their accounts to our staff or the authors of the entries. We've already done that for some of the authors who want us to post blog entries on their behalf and it works well. Many but probably not most of the Wordpress blog entries include graphics. Ning recently allowed clients like us to store graphic files on its server so move the graphics from our Wordpress server to Ning's and change the URLs in the blog entries so that rather than calling the graphics from the Wordpress server they'll call the graphics from the Ning server.
