We seek an experienced visual user interface designer to improve the GUI of a standalone Java Swing application.
Customers use this application to collaborate and share information with many others also connected to the collaboration network.
Our objective is to improve the visual appearance (GUI) and the interaction design of the application to not only allow users to efficiently and effectively work with it, but that they also love its distinctive appearance and beauty.
If you believe you are experienced enough and that you master distinct skills to help us reach this goal within the technical constraints of Java Swing, then please let us know in what ways you would like to engage for this effort.
You qualify most if:
a) you are eager to come up with something perfect and beautiful
b) you have good taste and spot the mediocre easily
c) you have good ideas how to improve and fix bad visual appearances and user interfaces
d) you're able to communicate effectively needed changes to graphic artists, programmers and product managers
e) you're able to sketch your proposals and ideas sufficiently to decision-makers
f) if your skills, passions or ambitions relate strongly to one or more of these topics:
"look and feel"
"use case implementation"
1) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Employer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the employer on the site per the worker's Worker Legal Agreement).
2) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
3) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Employer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Worker in ready-to-run condition in the Employer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the employer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this project.
Since our requirements can only be stated very general until you have seen the application and therefore do not qualify for a fixed price project bid yet, we would like you to let us know your hourly rate.
We are also open to to have parts of this project either billed on fixed-price or hourly rate.
You're also welcome if your time allows you only to contribute to this project as a consult based on your strong experience in similar application improvement projects.
On success, we are interested in a long term business relationship.
