Violations that lead to account restriction
Violations of our Code of Conduct and Terms and Conditions are thoroughly reviewed. Each confirmed violation warrants a penalty which varies from a simple written warning to account restriction. This is done to maintain safety, trust, and professionalism within the marketplace.
Violations that lead to account restriction include, but are not limited to, the following:
Taking payments offsite. Projects must be paid within the site using Milestone Payments. Attempting to take payments outside the site is considered a violation.
Taking communication offsite. You should keep your communication within the Freelancer.com messaging platform.
Displaying contact information. You should not post contact details or materials with contact details in bids, profile summary, or any other page that is visible to other users.
Unprofessional communication. You are expected to communicate professionally with other users of the site.
Being unresponsive. You should maintain regular communication with other users you have an ongoing project or contest with.
Not completing accepted projects. You are expected to deliver within the time frame you have committed on a project or contest.
Demanding payment before work is done. Milestone Payments are designed to be released when a task or milestone is achieved. The Milestone Payment system and the Dispute Resolution Service are in place to protect the interests of both parties.
Changing bid to an unreasonably higher amount after accepting the project. Bids should be a reasonable estimate of the project cost.
Copyright infringement. You are expected to provide non-plagiarized work to project posters and contest holders.
Using a fake profile. Your profile should reflect your true identity and skill set.
Users whose accounts have been restricted are notified accordingly through email. The restriction will automatically expire on the date specified in the email notification. It cannot be appealed or lifted prior to the indicated date.
