Absence project
This project contains artworks from my diploma thesis named Absence. It consists of oil paintings, drawings, and photos. Here is a part of my thesis text, in which I explain the issues that this project deals with. "The majority of my artistic production focuses on the issue of communication between people and also the communication between people and their surroundings. The person is depicted as a decomposed, gestural form that is imprisoned in a totally different environment. It is an environment that is both familiar and unfriendly, evoking a middlebrow aesthetic that characterizes a large portion of the society. The result is people who feel as strangers within their own house, a reversal that transforms it from a hospitable haven to a personal prison. In this environment and despite being oppressed by it, the figure does not revolt, but rather passively and fruitlessly tries to reach a peaceful coexistence with the surrounding space."
About Me
My name is Anna and I am a Greece-based visual artist. I have graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Department of Visual and Applied Arts in June 2018. Since then I have my own studio in Thessaloniki, where I paint and draw. I specify in realistic painting and drawing. I also make traditionally printed posters and flyers using linocut and screenprinting. Soon I will be able to print T-shirts with screenprinting too. Finally, I have worked as an artist on an unpublished graphic novel. I will also be fascinated to work with concept art and character design.
