This project was for a coursework during my Bsc(Hons) Computing (Web Systems Development course at Caledonian University in Glasgow, Scotland. It was for a module called "Rich Internet Applications" which aimed to enhance each students awareness of RIAs and the benefits they have for both the user and the developer. The project scope was for a gallery application which allowed the user to search for exhibitions and exhibits related to those exhibitions. We were given the choice of many technologies such as Flash, Ajax, Silverlight, and many more. I chose to use Ajax (specifically JavaScript, jQuery, XHTML, and PHP) as I prefer to use technologies that do not require plugins such as Flash or Silverlight. Ajax is also quite lightweight and since I prefer to use plain JavaScript the amount of code downloaded onto the client is low and so the page will refresh quicker. The exhibitions can be searched using many options and are displayed in a jQuery slider to the user.
