Power of Words - Print Typography
The focus of this project was on the typographic treatment of text. The aim was to represent the meaning of human resistance felt through the power of words in the lyrics of protest songs. It involved using a selection of American protest songs from the twentieth century to the present day. The design called upon a historical context to represent the political, social and historical climate the songs were produced in and give audiences a point of reference. The experimental design was done to work as a contemporary interpretation. Target audience aimed for one with an appreciation for typography, expression, song, history, politics and social comment. The project was framed within a multi-page spread book, created to enhance the meaning expressed through the lyrics of songs.
