Gravity and architecture
Architects deal with Gravity as an ever-present force challenging them to cultivate new possibilities It possess certain restrictions on the morphology of human bodies. Our bodies would have been very different if gravity had not existed. Similarly, man made structures need to be balanced by cancelling its forces of momentum. The forces acting by the gravitational force is neutralized by the opposite upward reaction produced. Compression and tension act hand in hand, keeping the structure static at a point. This project aims to study how gravity plays a major role in architecture, being one of the major intangibles. A visually precarious structure is built to stand on an edge by balancing the forces acting on it. The center of gravity of the structure is obtained by hanging it from three unique fulcrum points.
