I have worked at the Port of Houston for almost 20 years. I started at the Houston Public Grain Elevator No. 1, when the Port acquired another grain elevator (#2) through bankruptcy in Galena Park I started working there. In 1996, I moved to the Purchasing department. I love helping staff and customers, with new tasks on several projects and have assisted with the implementation of software programs. Our newest implementation will start on April 1st, 2009 our financial system, Lawson.

Grain would come into the Elevator via rail cars and trucks they would dump loads of wheat, soybeans, corn, etc., it would be weighed and a ticket printed. Tickets would be processed through types of grains or commodity received. Types of grains must stay separate for the best quality when shipping it out. Responsible for maintaining the books (ledgers) with grain information. Processed employee time tickets. Used Warehouse receipts and other day to day duties as assigned by the Manager.
