Marketing Management Tool for Franchise-Based Companies
Sami was built using the CodeIgniter PHP framework. For such a large-scale project, a solid MVC architecture was necessary for creating robust and extensible code. Additionally, we had multiple programmers working on this application and CodeIgniter allowed for a modular approach to feature development. Being that the application was design-heavy, we wanted to approach the styling from a similar perspective. As such, we decided to implement the Compass CSS framework which utilizes the SASS pre-processor. To handle some of the UI requirements, we implemented a number of different jQuery plugins. There was a need for customizable Google Maps with real-time drawing. To solve this, we decided to implement KineticJS which is an HTML5 Canavas Javascript framework. This allowed the user to highlight areas of a map using pre-defined shapes and lines. The coordinates of these could then be stored in our database and the map could be recalled later with the users’ overlays intact.
