I am an Australian electronics engineer currently living in Japan. I have worked the last five years in Australia for and embedded systems company in Brisbane, designing products for the Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) industry. I have experience in designing, prototyping, programming, testing, producing and maintaining embedded systems and projects. Some of the many products I have developed are: Roadside vehicle measurement system. Detects vehicle speed, length, headway, axle spacing and classification. Measurements are stored on CompactFlash card for fixed line, GSM or GPRS retrieval (Sold in Australia, Britain, Ireland, Cyprus and the U.S.) Hand held inductive loop meter. Measures loop inductance, resistance and Q. Also contains a insulation tester and a loop field detector. Graphical interface firmware for Variable Message Sign to enable the display of graphics and graphic sequences Prototype embedded video detection system. Processes image stream from a CMOS video camera to determine if vehicles are in predefined detection zones, using a 16 bit processor and OV6620 sensor. Prototype GPS tracking add-on for existing bus tracking system. Uses GPS to locate bus position and sends information via GPRS to central server. In addition, I wrote programs for the Windows and Windows Mobile operating system to interface with embedded devices: Software suite to interface with roadside vehicle measurement system. Consisted of Windows Mobile application to communicate to roadside device via bluetooth and download data, Windows application to synchronise with multiple iPAQs to transfer data to MySQL database. Various software programs to simulate and test communications protocols and point to point or multidrop networks of embedded system devices.
