Forest Camp. The concept for this project is to have a small hotel and a camping site within a government forest for the purpose of encouraging local visitors and tourists to appreciate the importance of forests and forest conservation. The agency responsible for forests in Kenya leases forest land to potential investors and gets some royalties in return but has strict rules on how the business is to be operated in order to preserve the environment. One of the tender conditions was that the bidders for this project were to provide three-year financial projections. My role on this project was to carry out the following tasks: • Prepare cost data and supporting detail for the project based on information provided by the client. • Advise the client on proper pricing that will make the product attractive to the market while making sure the project breaks even and makes some profit within the first year of operation. • Advise the client on the amount of loan required.
