Set up of a new accounting system
This is one of the many projects I have done on setting up new accounting systems. It involved converting an excel based reporting system to a fully-fledged accounting system using QuickBooks 2014 as the accounting software. My role as the consultant involved carrying out the following tasks: • Gathering information about the existing reporting system. • Design the new chart of accounts by taking into account the client’s reporting needs and advising them on the right accounting software to buy. • Installation and setup of the software to suit the client’s reporting needs. • Introduction of the opening balances into the system by capturing them from the trial balance of the previous year’s audited accounts. • Training accounting staff on the new system. This includes training them on how to raise invoices, enter receipts, enter suppliers’ invoices, make payments and produce the reports from the system.
