FIREWALL
kip
Essentially the phrase firewall has its origins from its predecessor Fire wall, which meant putting a fire prove wall around a building to prevent it from catching fire or to prevent fire from spreading from one place to another. The concept easily finds semblance with the internet one, since the internet is a very volatile virtual world. The internet is also very unsafe when viewed from the computer security perspective. It is therefore reasonable to analogize it with the original firewall concept.
