About Me
Being fascinated by the written word, I began my first classroom newsletter in collaboration with a classmate and since then have sustained a passion for writing. I published my first novel, The Lore of Ramridge, in 2018 under the pen name, Karuna Savoie. Publishing a novel enabled me to learn the related skills of book formatting, writing book blurbs, maintaining author pages, managing metadata, copy-rights, ISBNs, web design, social media, and public speaking. As a journalism major at American University and staff writer in its student publication AWOL, I continue to research, interview, write, collaborate, and publish. My digital skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office and G Suite, video editing, website design, and social media engagement. My love for the written word has led to the study of several languages. I am proficient in speaking and writing German and in speaking Hindi. I learned management and organization of social media platforms and Wix website design as an intern with Dolce Federica, a chocolatier business, in the summer of 2019. I assisted in promoting products through Instagram by managing posts with a platform called Planoly, which allowed me to categorize hashtags and schedule posts that would be published to increase engagement. In designing the business’s website, I edited product descriptions and improved the layout of the homepage. I also filmed a short video of the business’s chocolatier at work, cutting and combining video clips in order to produce something fit to publish in the business owner’s Instagram story. I love working on creative projects, and I can’t wait to work with you.
