Cathexis - Electronica 'Glitch' Composition
After playing the popular independent game Axiom verge I decided to create a track that would fit into a similar type of game. The concept I had in mind for this was of destroyed technology, machinery, corrupted artificial intelligence, and a break-down of reality. To create sounds which conveyed this I took royalty free samples of machinery and technology, chopped and rearranged the audio files, and experimented with time-stretching, pitch shifting, and gating. I incorporated these sounds into the composition as random elements to begin with, and over time they become rhythmic. My secondary goal for this composition was to refine my mixing skills, which I did so by balancing as many sounds as I could while maintaining the fidelity and clarity of each. The end result is something I envision could be used for a title screen or introductory cutscene.
About Me
Composer, sound designer, and audio editor looking to work with video game developers, programmers, and artists, podcast creators, and anybody in need of audio editing. As a composer and sound designer I specialise primarily in electronic music, however I’m competent in composing in other genres and always interested in expanding my horizons and experimenting with other styles and techniques. As an audio editor, I mix and edit all my own compositions in programs such as Logic and Audacity. My portfolio is available on my profile here with descriptions for each composition. I often return to older projects to apply new skills and improve upon them, so please check back regularly for updates.
