FMP - Cruising at 2000m
For my Final Major Project at University, I created a book about snowboarding titled "Cruising at 2000m". In the the book, I explore the visual beauty of the mountains, the sport, the culture surrounding it, and their relationship with others. The goal was to capture the feeling that I, and other riders, have towards it. I researched the subject by going to indoor slopes in England and Morzine in France, where I spoke to snowboarders, skiers, locals, and resort staff there, getting first-hand information from real people and places. Every photo in the book was taken by me, most of the large text and both of the half toned images have been screen printed, including the front cover, and many of the quotes are from conversations I had with snowboarding enthusiasts. The whole book was printed and hand-bound by me. My degree show banner gives a preview of my project, showing some of the best bits while also including some things that aren't in my book.
About Me
I am a Graphic Designer from St. Albans, England. Currently, I live in Wellington, New Zealand. I am available for freelance or contract work. I have two years' experience working Ziff Davis, a major international entertainment company. During my time there, I was the primary designer for the IGN and AskMen London office. I was responsible for producing all of the advertisements featured on their websites, as well as any other in-house design work. Previously, I worked with a start-up design & PR company called Heavy London as an intern. At Heavy London, I was tasked with designing websites and promotional material. I graduated from Southampton Solent University in 2015 with First Class Honours in Graphic Design.
