Stopping Spam Submissions on WPForms Forms
I was receiving manual spam submissions via my contact forms that we're not being stopped by my honey pot setting. I wanted a simple way to tell WPForms to ignore submissions that contained certain spam terms. I adapted two solutions to create a custom function that uses the Comment Blacklist field to create a list of terms to check for. I then step through each field in the form, and check the contents against the spam terms. If any spam terms are found, then the submission fails invisibly, no email is sent, the entry is not recorded, but the spammer does not know that this has happened. This reduced the number of spam submissions from contact forms to almost zero. And now, any time that I get a new manual spam submission, I just add a new spam term to my Comment Blacklist field, to stop any further submissions of that type. https://measurewhatworks.com/article/stop-wpforms-spam-using-comment-blacklist-field/
