Because of the variety in mobile operating systems for smart phones, apps that target more than one platform are truly "in" today. Fortunately tools for cross-platform development exist, which can significantly reduce the time needed to port an app to different phone models. I used one of them to develop a cross-platform controller for an intelligent household, described the approach used, its benefits and shortfalls.
