Career Objective To attain a challenging position in the field of CFD and to work in an organization where I can enhance my skills and contribute to the growth of the organization. Educational Profile Ø MS in Computational Fluid Dynamics from IIIT (International Institute of Information Technology in association with Moscow state University, Russia), Pune with CGPA 3.1/4.0, 2005-2007 Ø MSc in Physics from Bharatidasan University, Tamilnadu, with an aggregate of 67%, 2003-2005 Ø BSc in (Maths, Physics, Electronics) from Nagarjuna University, Andhra Pradesh with an aggregate of 62%, 2000-2003 Ø Plus 2(SSLC) from Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh with an aggregate of 68.6%, 1998-2000 Ø S.S.C from Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh with an aggregate of 70%, 1997-1998 Technical Skills Ø CFD analysis tools : FLUENT, CFX, TURBO GRID Ø Meshing tools : GAMBIT, ICEM- CFD Ø Languages : C, C++ Ø CAD tools : CATIA V5, IDEAS Ø Visualization tools : TECPLOT, GNU PLOT Experience in CFD (14 Months) Company Mather and Platt Pumps Ltd Title CFD Engineer-Turbomachinary Department Research & Development Duration October 2006 - till date Mather & Platt Pumps Ltd, Pune, India, is a subsidiary of WILO AG, Germany. WILO is one of the world’s largest pumps Designing and Manufacturing Company. It designs and manufactures wide variety of pumps like Centrifugal, Axial and Mixed flow type etc for many industrial applications. Responsibility Ø Studying the physics of the pump design. Designing the basic design of the pump and mathematically calculating the parameters like Head, Efficiency etc on a Excel sheet, which is specially developed for pump designing by WILO. Ø Importing the Excel sheet results in CAD software named IDEAS and creating 3D pump design. Ø Meshing the geometry using ICEM CFD. Ø Solving and post-processing the discretized geometry using CFX. Projects: MS Projects Project Title : CFD Analysis of Axial flow Pump Study of Axial flow pump using CFD at three different flow rates. The purpose of these simulations was to determine the capability of CFD in predicting the pump performance characteristic curve. Responsibilities: Ø Creating the geometry using ICEM Ø Meshing the geometry using ICEM Ø Doing the flow analysis in the created geometry using CFX Ø In results, observing the velocity field, blade surface static pressure distribution and absolute frame total pressure distribution for both impeller and diffuser. Calculating the gross performance factors in terms of total head rise, hydraulic efficiency and head loss in diffuser. Project Title : CFD analysis of raw water sump at minimum water level and Study of Swirling flow Problems at intakes Study of the flow pattern in water sumps using CFD. The flow pattern in open circuit sumps had to be studied in order to determine the regions of re-circulation where foreign particle deposition could occur and even lead to particle ingestion in suction pumps. The quality of flow entering the pump needs to be known to determine the efficiency and life of the pump. Chances of air ingestion through surface vortices also need to be studied to know and avoid pumping performance loss due to pump bell vibration and impeller pitting. Design studies to determine the flow parameters through experimentation are expensive and time consuming. Using CFD, the designer could get a thorough insight into the flow physics and make design changes based on the observations. Responsibilities Ø Designing the Geometry using CAD tool CATIA V5. Ø Meshing the Geometry using GAMBIT and specifying Boundary conditions. Ø Doing Analysis using FLUENT. Ø Observing the Flow-Patterns in the Geometry. Ø In post-processing calculating the Swirl angle. Project Title : Acoustic analysis of Centrifugal Blower In an Centrifugal Blower, the noise is generated by air passing through the [login to view URL] the objective of the current CFD analysis is to provide accurate flow field characteristics to be able to evaluate centrifugal blowers for Automotive applications, and to provide accurate surface forces to be used as input to a noise evaluation analysis. In order to simulate the flow field and acoustics, a 3D model of centrifugal blower. This model is meshed with Tetrahedral mesh. Computational simulations are performed using CFX and currently going in FLUENT also to compare the results. Responsibilities Ø Studied the flow physics of the Centrifugal Blower. Ø Preparation of Mesh using ICEM CFD. Ø Simulation and post processing using CFX and FLUENT. MSc Project Project Title : Study project on power production in thermal power plant Organization : Vijayawada Thermal Power Station,Vijayawada,A.P. The work is to study how the power production is done in the thermal power plant. And studying the role of boilers, turbines and condersors in thermal power plant. Studied about different type of turbines and it’s components. Prepared data sheet for the Turbines. Given tabulated results of generated power of the total units in power plant. Extra Curricular Ø Participated in a National level National Level Conference, SONIC ’06, at International Institute of Information Technology, Pune in September, 2006 on “CFD applications in wide range of industries”. Ø Participated in a seminar on “Modern trends in Electronic communications”. Ø Participated in a seminar on “National level symposium on crystal growth” Ø Won a 3rd place in state level talent test held at Vijayawada, AP in 1998.
