I'm a versatile editor and writer who has a lifelong passion for language. My training has been academic; I earned a PhD in Comparative Literature, and published a book about French and German women authors' writings on the anti-Nazi resistance. I taught literature and composition courses for eight years at a university, where I also served as the copy editor of a scholarly journal. I've worked on various freelance projects, from popular to scholarly. I have a keen eye for copyediting and proofreading. I can spot an error with a glance at a page. And I love the challenge of solving the puzzle of grammar. Another facet of my experience is the editing work I've done for non-native speakers. I've edited Master's theses and PhD dissertations by authors from Chile, the Middle East, Germany, Japan, Korea, Russia, Iran, and New Zealand. Since early 2009, I've worked as a freelance editor for an online editing service that provides copyediting for ESL authors who wish to publish articles in American and British journals. The assignments I've worked on range from business to psychology to literature to history to telecommunications. My array of skills and personal qualities would be an asset to any writer. Most important, I try to be sensitive to anyone whose writing I am editing or critiquing. I'm conscientious about deadlines.

Too many misunderstanding in communication. Our line of work is we test the skills of freelancers just so we know where their strengths are. But she found it more offensive that we asked her to proofread an already edited work. Most employers wont pay for test projects but we pay. Unfortunate she was not the person we needed but we have found great people here on the site. We are thankful for freelancer.

Having had issues in the past with other freelancers I was wary when trying such services again. Luckily, I chose resistergrl! She is wonderfully helpful, prompt, professional, and produces excellent work. I will definitely use her every time I need freelance help - you should too.

I served as copy editor of Clio, a peer-reviewed scholarly journal. Clio focuses on interdisciplinary scholarship in the areas of literature, history, and the philosophy of history. We produced three issues a year. I was responsible for copyediting articles (offering suggestions for revising large sections of material and polishing drafts), contacting authors, and working with our editor-in-chief to insure that all copy was coherent and conformed to Chicago style.
