Projects: ############ VHDL & FPGA: ############# - FPGA MP3 Player: Target Hardware: FPGA Xilinx Spartan2 Software: VHDL EDK tools: Modelsim, XST other tools: MS project, Data Flow Diagram The aim of the project is to design an MP3 (MPEG1 Layer 3) player in an FPGA based on ISO standards. The DSP components of the MP3 algorithm by name Huffman decoding, Requantization, Alias reduction, Inverse modified cosine transform and Polyphase filter bank are designed using Finite State Machine technique and integrated to form a structural synchronous design. Modules were simulated, synthesised and the hardware was successfully generated. - Microprocessor Design on FPGA: Xilinx Spartan2 FPGA (xc2s100) was designed to function as a RISC Microprocessor. The four modules ALU, 16bit-Data Memory, 16bit-Program Memory and the Control Module was developed as a structural design using VHDL. - SRAM (256Kx16), LED display (Bargraph and 7segnent), dipswitches and Serial port were interfaced to Spartan 2e FPGA on XSB-300E board. - 16MB SDRAM, VGA port were interfaced to xc2s100 FPGA on XSA-100 board in order to display an image on the monitor. - Home Appliances Controller using VHDL: VHDL codes were written for a Xilinx Spartan2 FPGA to control a home security system, a coffee machine and a warning light for the given functionalities. ########### C & C++ : ################ - Fuzzy Logic Controller of Cascade Tank System Software: C++ other tools: Latex Role played: Project co-ordinator The aim of this 4 member group project is to design a fuzzy logic flow controller using a cascade tank system to overcome the drawbacks of the conventional controllers. This project was developed in Department of Defence Laboratory (DRDL), India; as an application analysing missile’s liquid propulsion system. The controller was successfully simulated in C++ by developing a Fuzzy logic rule base. The results were also verified by simulating the controller using Fuzzy logic tool box in MATLAB. The responses obtained were compared with that of the conventional P, PI and PID controllers. - 8085 Simulator C++: The aim of this project is to develop a software using C++ called as the “8085 micro processor simulator” which can be used for simulating an assembly language program. - Business Management Project: The aim of the project is to design a business management system for a jewellery shop. Basic modules include Billing, Stock, Bank/Loans, Purchasing, Sales, and Returns. The project was designed using UML and developed using Object oriented programming technique in C++. - Parameters like Temperature and level were controlled using ON-OFF, P, PI and PID Controllers using C. Embedded C and ALP: Developed stepper motor speed controllers using embedded C and Assembly languages, using PIC and INTEL microcontrollers Developed a digital thermometer using INTEL 8051 microcontroller
